I have been waiting a long long long time to share my experience about this very special day so get ready for a little story per say! (no, I did not mean to rhyme that intro sentence) Ha!
So, I had been following Grace Loves Lace on Instagram for quite some time, long before Jesse even proposed. I loved their vibe and dress styles. They were all so chic and had a little sexy boho edginess. I also knew that they were an Australian brand which semi bummed me out because I'm all about the experience. I didn't want to just order my f*cking wedding dress online! I wanted to go to a location with my sisters and best friends to drink champagne and dress shop for my BIG DAY! They occasionally had pop up shops in LA but did not have anything on the calendar when we first got engaged. I wrote them like a stalker once every month until FINALLY I saw they were opening up a SHOWROOM in LA. I could not wait to get my ass in there and pick my dress!
When we arrived at the Venice Beach Showroom we were greeted by the cutest Aussie babes with champagne and the most adorable macaroons. Talk about setting the mood!
I went dress shopping on 7/16/16, pretty late in the game considering our wedding was on 10/01/16. If you know me you know thats just how I roll, always pressing my luck. I was now limited on the gowns they would have available but I knew I would find something I loved. Grace Loves Lace did not disappoint. I had my eye on the 'Sia' two-piece gown and a couple others from the very beginning.
After trying on the two-piece gowns (that were ready to ship immediately) I tried on some pieces that were just too gorgeous to not play a little dress up with! Adding some accessories and some other GLL pieces including a veil I NEVER thought I would want that I literally just tried on for fun. I ended up falling in LOVE! Funny story about the veil during our ceremony on my next blog post!
For the first time in my indecisive life I went in with a vision and came out with exactly that, plus some! I tried on the oh so sexy 'GIGI' bodysuit and just like that veil it was a MUST!
I said YES to the dress, and some. Ha!
Being the typical non-traditional type of gal I am, another rad vision was to have a slight wardrobe change. Jesse and I did a "first look" with our boys followed by family photos of us four, then there was the ceremony, and then the reception. I DID NOT want to look the exact same in over 1k images. Typical Christa, thinking of the photos. Ha!
I decided on the 'SIA' two piece gown for my first look where I would be barefoot wearing a flower crown. At the ceremony I would still be in my SIA gown but this time with my combat boots (that I wore the shit out of the first two years of Salvaged Soul building) & the 'HENRI' veil. Changing it up enough for me not to feel like I was looking at the same thing over and over. For our reception I slipped into the 'GIGI' bodysuit and took the veil off so I could dance the night away without my head getting ripped off!
Here's a peak at my 'Grace Loves Lace' look!
